Ski Trip 2024

Tahuna's annual ski trip from the student's perspective!

Earlier this term, 34 Tahuna students got selected to go to the 2024 Tahuna Ski Trip. There were over 100 applications and these 34 students stood out, primarily due to their outstanding track record at Tahuna as a student. The bus ride took about 5 1⁄2 hours to get to Queenstown and another 1⁄2 an hour to get to Coronet peak. Most of us stayed in the Southland lodge with Mr Angus (the funny one), Mr Wells (the amazing cook) & Derek. 11 of the girls went down to the Otago Lodge with Miss McGrannachan & Miss Seel (the drama investigators) & Mrs Whitson (the socks storyteller). On the first day there were about 20 first timers skiing and snowboarding, including Mr Angus. Most of the first timers went on the Magic Carpet and the Meadow Express on the first day. Only some people chose to go on the Coronet Express on our first day.

We packed up at 4pm on the first day and went back to the lodge for showers after arguing who goes first in the two showers. Followed by lasagna for dinner and a combination of home baking and milo for supper. We played two games in house groups, Guess Who & Scattergories, to compete for house points. Mahuika were the victors on this occasion. We went to bed at 10:30pm and woke up to a delicious breakfast - hash browns, bacon, baked beans, toast, cereal and mini sausages. We went up to the ski field at quarter past 8 and started skiing at 9:00am. Some of us had lessons at 9:00am and some at 10:30am. After that we were allowed to go wherever we wanted!!

Some of the girls went up in the gondola to the lookout point to take some pro photos, the view was beautiful. We finished skiing at 3:00pm to take the hired gear back then left at 3:45pm and had lots of fun on the bus ride and stopped in Alexandra for Subway. We eventually got home at around 8:30 pm.

To reflect on the trip we had an amazing time and made lots of new memories.❄️ ⛷️🏂
