Taiōpeka Performs For Andy Bay Primary School

A small group of students have been showing off their kapa haka talent to a very excited room of students.

Agnes Oliver of Andersons Bay Primary has the exciting journey of running her school's kapa haka group this year. Knowing the reputation and skill of Tahuna's Taiōpeka, she asked us along.

Manuel Wehi, Eb Paia and Mrs Reddington selected a smaller group of interested students (many formally from Andy Bay Primary) and started to get the group ready.

We arrived to a beautiful assembly setting. The students welcomed us with a waiata and then it was our turn.

The Tahuna students were brilliant, the volume from such a small group brought shivers to my skin! Manuel Wehi has been fine tuning some key points in our school haka, and it is looking and sounding amazing.

Agnes' comments after our performance where.....

"So inspiring that we had 120 children keen to be in our kapa haka group this year! That’s about 40% of our current school roll."

Awesome mahi team Tahuna!
