Tahuna TV Stars

Two girls, Meli White and Mihi Wesley-Evans from Room 7, recently took part in a TVNZ show called Brain Busters.

Mihi’s episode hasn’t been on yet but Meli’s aired recently and can be found here. https://www.tvnz.co.nz/shows/brain-busters/episodes/s1-e8

On Wednesday, the 17 of July, I participated in a show called Brain Busters. Weeks later on the 8 of August, it went on air. It was an amazing time - awesome people and an exciting experience. The crew was very nice and reassuring (probably because most of us were nervous about going on TV), and the kids were cool. We had to be at WhiteBait Media by 7:45 a.m and packed out of the hotel by 10 am. We were greeted at the front door, (a very nice colourful wall in the background) and had to leave our parents. The earliest we would’ve gotten picked up is at 10am, and the very latest was 7pm. Personally, I was there until 5pm. Lots of kids that got out earlier just hung out because the rooms we stayed in while other episodes were being filmed was awesome. There were lots of books, Xbox games and board games, as well as Disney+ on a tv. They film 5 episodes per day, breaking down the filming, and there are 4 kids in an episode. Earlier in the day, there were 20 kids. When I left, there were about 5. If you are wondering by the way, I came second in my episode. When filming, they bring the kids into a separate studio. When we first came in, one of the hosts, Mikey was doing his intros, so we had to crouch down and whisper so we wouldn’t be seen or heard. They film the first two rounds, then the third, then the fourth. Then the last contestant goes into their own round. I spent about 10 hours there. It was a fun time, and I would 100% do it again.

On the 10th of August 2020, my dad and I drove up to Christchurch and filmed my episode of Brain Busters. Dad and I had to be at the WhiteBait Media Studios at 7:45am. When I first got there I met with the backstage crew and the people who I was in an episode with, we got told about how everything worked and then had a tour of the set. Once we had talked about everything we then just chilled and waited until it was time to film, I was so nervous while filming. The filming was really fun and I found a few things out I found that Chris Kirk, the tv host, is really tall and I would 100% do it again.
