Year 7's
Looking back and looking forward.
It is hard to believe that we are nearly at the end of Term 1. The Year 7's have done extremely well transitioning into Tahuna despite all the challenges due to COVID.
The Year 7's have had a busy term looking at Ko Wai Au and Kaitakitanga through looking at the Tahuna values, house flags, haka and starring me projects.
Some classes were fortunate enough to get out to camp before COVID changed the rules. Other class camps are being looked into for later in the year to ensure the year 7's don't miss out.
Sports and music activities were able to get up and running and well done to all the Year 7's who have been representing the school throughout the term.
The Year 7's learnt about beat and rhythm this term in music and played some games as well as learning to use some percussion instruments including pitched percussion.
Check out some of the kiwiana kai coming out of the food tech room this term. There has been some amazing hard materials project taken home including bird houses. The Year 7's have completed two tech rotations this term and look forward to their options next term.
Term two
Next term we will be busy focusing on Science fair. Students will be scaffolded through a science project as well as having lots of hands on science.
We will be looking at being guardian's of our Earth through some environmental science and activities.
Our last major topic is puberty. The students will be focusing on the changes of the body and how to manage their needs throughout puberty. A parent evening will be held early in the term to share the programme content.
Electives start next term and the students will be picking a sport and cultural activity to participate in during Friday elective sessions.
