Tirohanga - Day 1
Excitement. Games. Glow Worms.
With great excitement came CAMP DAY!! We started off our camp experience with a (wet) neighbourhood scavenger hunt, before a camp movie and pop corn in class and an epic, interclass game of chair netball while we waited for the bus to take us out to Tirohanga - the kids weren't overjoyed with the weather, but they just got on with it. LOVE THESE KIDS!
On arrival at Tirohanga we completed an orientation of the camp, had lunch, did loads of team building work, fun problem solving challenges, STEAM project, bivvy making etc. before the students were let loose on gas cookers (under adult supervision of course...).
The nachos were a massive hit and fuelled us up for the big clean up, camp diary writing, activities in the hall and a walk to the glow worms.
Best quote of the day was someone who was so excited they were up late, they were beaming and bouncing saying they've never been up this late before... not sure if this was a good thing or a bad thing.
Then into our cabins for a well earned rest to get ready for day 2.
