Tahuna Ski / Snowboard Trip 2020

Tahuna Students hit the slopes of Coronet Peak for what has turned out to be the best weekend of the season.

This year's Tahuna Ski trip was an amazing experience.

We started our adventure in the performing arts room, everyone was excited to get our trip underway. Once we loaded the bus and got going it was a great trip from there on out.

We stopped off in Queenstown for dinner and for some it was the first time they had visited the resort town. As we arrived at Coronet Peak, there was a definite change in weather and we could hear the snow guns pumping out fresh snow. We unloaded our bus in a chain formation in the snow and ice. After we got our bags inside we were introduced to the lovely lodge owners. Our bunk rooms were warm and a bit squashed for the boys but we all coped and were excited for what the next day would bring. In the morning we started our lessons on the field after making our way through ski hire. The beginners learnt to stop and turn whilst the intermediate went down the Big Easy and the advanced got to explore more of the field. Many beginners were on the chairlift by Sunday but some even earlier if they were ready. Teachers would guide us up the lifts and various runs and then we could continue to ski or board on these with our friends. Morning tea was delicious home baking and fruit. After that we got back to skiing. At lunchtime, we bought our lunch from the cafe and then raced back out onto the field to make the most of our time on the mountain. After our ski time we headed back to the lodge for showers, dinner and a movie. We then had an early night so we could do it all over again the next day. It was so much fun and we all improved so much over the weekend. The week before we went they had just had a big dusting of snow and the sun was shining so it was the perfect time to go skiing.

Lucky us.
