ESOL and The Learning Village

Our students and ESOL teacher Martina Schaefer are excited to be in their new space for Language classes.

At Tahuna we have secured spaces for students to study the latest English language learning platform, 'The Learning Village'.  We have three groups at various levels undertaking the programme and we have one group taking ESOL classes.  There are twenty two students participating.

The classes have students from Korea, Czech Republic, Palestine, Tuvalu, Samoa, China, Syria, France and Afghanistan.  We are very multicultural.

The Learning Village programme is an online course which is facilitated by Martina.  She is in her second year here at Tahuna and this is the second government based programme she has been required to train in to be able to teach the students.  We have lost some ground due to Covid-19 and its fantastic to be up and running now in the new space.

Amer Al Yassin (from Syria) said his first class was "good".  He has arrived at Tahuna last Tuesday and it has been awesome to have him up and running so quickly.

We also support this with our Mandarin Language programme online tool 'Languagenut'. Tasks are gamified which is appealing for our students.
