Badminton and boom
Year 8 tuakana teaching Room 20 how to play badminton
We have had a busy start to the term in Room 20. We are learning a lot of new skills in P.E and Science.
Our P.E sessions have involved our Year 8 tuakana teaching us the basic skills of badminton. Most of us were very successful at keeping a good rally going. Our serving has become more accurate and we look forward to our next lesson.
There has been a lot of loud bangs coming from the science lab and surrounding courts as we tested and refined our air cannons. This was a great activity which showed us how the force of air in a donut shape can project a cannon ball out across the courts.
We have been using our data from this activity to learn about the different ways we can graph the same informations and to evaluate which graph presents the data in the easiest format for others to understand.
We have also had a look at sound waves and how they travel through the air and objects. It was interesting to hear the tuning forks amplify the sound waves as they travelled through the balloons.
