Year 8 Term 2 2021
Term 2 is shaping up to be another exciting and busy term with HPV, Electives, Sport Electives, Year 8 swimming, SUFM (Standing Up For Myself), New Zealand geography and NZ History units being taught.
HPV vaccinations will be held in the first week of Term 2 (Tuesday). This is the first of two injections that will be given to Year 8 students this year.
Electives and Sport Electives are currently being selected by students and every year we offer a variety new and exciting options for all students. It is a chance for Year 7 and 8 students to mix and work together on things that they are passionate about.
Swimming has been booked for Term 2 and will start in week 3 We have 3 exciting activities - IRB, Surf Lifesaving skills and Snorkeling activities. These will all be run by the Just Swim staff with our team providing support and supervision. Students will also receive Just swim lessons as a part of their rotations. Each student will participate in 4 Just Swim swimming sessions and activities.
SUFM will begin at the start of term 2 and will focus on students developing skills and strategies to help make confident and strong decisions that will help keep them safe. There will be a big focus on how students interact and engage with their peers and others online.
NZ geography and NZ History are two units that will introduced in term 2. A huge thanks to Mrs Reddington for designing these units. There are some awesome activities based around major events and features that have helped shape New Zealand.
I am certainly looking forward to another exciting term with lots of engaging activities for our Year 8 team.
