Riparian Planting 2021
Now in its fourth year, our Riparian Planting Project continues to grow from year-to-year.
Back in 2018 we joined up with the Student Volunteer Army to start on a long-term collaboration with Taieri dairy farmer Matt Kerr. Our goal is to plant native plants right along a stretch of one of the waterways which runs off Maungatua and through the Kerr Family farm.
After a break last year due to Covid, we were delighted to be able to take a keen group of students out last week to plant our latest batch of natives. The group worked extremely well, planting over a hundred natives in just a few hours.
It was great to also be able to see the growth which has happened for our previous plantings. Matt talked to us about his long-term goals around sustainability and we left knowing that we had helped him on that path with a small but important contribution.
