WELCOME BOXES FOR DUNEDIN REFUGEES

The School Council were delighted to follow the initiative of Ella Gomez in having each class organise 2 boxes of goodies as a welcome gift to the Syrian children coming to our city.

Lina, from the Refugee Association, came and spoke to the Councillors and shared slides to help the students understand just how huge a move it is for families to leave their country of birth and move to a completely new and unknown country.  

Although the boxes were appreciated, she also discussed ways we could help assimilate these families into Dunedin, the most important being a friendly face!
