Rock'n'Rolling at Tahuna
Term 3 is fully underway - full noise so to speak - with lots happening over the past two weeks and more to come. We have had the Ukulele Jam, Stars on Stage and we had two of our Rock bands - Acoustic Heroes and Rodeo Clowns, compete at the Rockshop Bandquest competition. Rodeo Clowns taking out the top prize.
Along with these performing arts activities we have three groups preparing for the upcoming Polyfest next week. 120 students are preparing for this event involved in Maori (Te tai o peka), Samoan and Cook Islands performances. On the sporting front we have a dedicated bunch of runners training for the Otago Schools Cross Country Championships. Both Hockey and Netball sporting codes have had highly successful finishes to their seasons.
Rock Climbing is also underway with Year 8 classes heading out to Long Beach to put into practice the climbing skills they learnt on the Logan Park High School Climbing wall. Science extension classes are also underway with Year 6 students from our contributing schools getting a taste of Chemistry experiments in our Science Lab and a group of TNIS Year 8 students getting to involved in science at Queens High School.
It is great to see our programme and students living out our values of Respect, Responsibility, Creativity and Success so well. We still have many exciting things to happen and take part in so we are looking forward to an engaging and fun filled learning programme until the end of term.
