Basketball Wins Beyond Tahuna!
After smashing it in the school comp, a bunch of Tahuna players took their basketball skills to the next level, repping Otago in preseason and qualifying tournaments — starting in Gore, then Dunedin, and finally the South Island U14 Regionals in Invercargill. The Otago A Team Girls had Ari Gordon, Charlotte Evans, and Willow Clark, while the B team featured Maisie Scoles, Karcyn Tatana, Annabel Morrison, and Taera Koni. Riker Tabb made the Boys U14 Development team with Koa Phillips who unfortunately had to withdraw due to injury.
All players trained hard, picked up some slick plays, and brought the heat to each tournament. Shout-out to Maisie who got bumped up to the Girls A team for the South Island tournie — and absolutely crushed it!
The Regionals were no joke, with some seriously tall and tough Canterbury players dominating the court in both boys and girls grades. The girls held their own, playing with heart and grit against some fierce competition.
Special mention to Riker and his team who won the C Grade final (the only Otago team to take out a title.)
At the Otago Basketball Awards, Tahuna girls shone bright! Big congrats to Ari (MVP – A team), Willow (Most Improved – A team), and Tae (Most Improved – B team). Legends!
