Specialist Subjects
Students have eagerly attended their first specialist subject, that they will attend for the whole term. There have been lots of new skills, techniques and a variety of equipment being used!
Visual Art: It has been a positive start to the term with students keen to learn by applying techniques learnt in Art.
The Year 8 art shows fun with using colour and their work with observation and shading, which is challenging, however all students have been refining their skills and producing quality work.
The Year 7 illusions with hearts have been very effective, also learning about the Elements of Art and applying pastel techniques, focusing on using lines to show movement and colour.
E-Tech: Year 7 students have been developing skills so they can work towards building their own game design. Year 8 students will explore being digital guardians and using co-spaces, students will build an "Escape Room" or "Interactive Museum" that simulates real-world cyber threats (phishing, data privacy, and social engineering).
Materials Technology: Students have been exploring electronics and had an Introduction to simple circuits, using Tinkercad, simulator and actual testing using mini breadboards with LEDs, motors and buzzers.
They will also complete jewellery design and make bracelets, necklaces and earrings.
Food Technology: Students have learnt about hygiene and safety procedures and have put these into action when creating a variety of delicious products! Waffles with homemade sauces, rice paper rolls, spaghetti and passata, fruit turnovers with custard, snack attack platter and we have even tried out making cookies in an airfryer!
