Student reporting Timeline

Some changes to what we normally do...

As we reach the midpoint of the year, I would like to share an important update regarding how we communicate your child’s learning journey.

At Tahuna Normal Intermediate, we have dedicated significant time and focus to refining our assessment and reporting systems to fully align with the Ministry of Education’s updated requirements for 2026.

The Ministry has set a new national direction for schools, emphasising greater consistency, transparency, and clarity in how student progress is measured and shared. We have taken the time to carefully adjust our internal processes to ensure we are meeting these expectations.

Consequently, we have pushed back the normal timeline of reports and parent interviews until the start of term 3.

The new report format you will receive this year is a direct reflection of the framework the Ministry has asked schools to produce to support a deeper, more accurate understanding of student achievement across the curriculum. By aligning with these Ministry guidelines, our new format will include some new terminology. You will see "Progress Markers"—Emerging, Developing, Consolidating, Proficient, and Exceeding—across Reading, Writing, and Mathematics. These markers help provide a picture of where your child is tracking toward end-of-year expectations, ensuring you have the information needed to support their next steps.

Reporting and Interview Timeline

Please note the following dates regarding the distribution of reports and our upcoming parent-teacher interviews:

  • Thursday 23 July: Reports will be sent home.

  • Monday 27 July: Parent-Teacher Interviews (Late Night session).

  • Tuesday 28 July: Parent-Teacher Interviews (3:30pm – 5:00pm).

We look forward to discussing these reports with you in person. These interviews are a vital opportunity to connect, celebrate your child’s growth, and discuss the clear, actionable goals we are setting for the second half of the year.
