A message from Volleyball Otago.  I would hate to hear that this may be any of our parents and supporters.

Please be advised that our court controllers who run the volleyball on Friday/Monday nights are acting on behalf of Volleyball Otago. Not only are they ensuring the smooth running of the volleyball games, but they are also there to maintain the safety of the children while on court.

As such, if spectators are requested to move from behind the end of a court, or stop bouncing a ball on the sideline, or stay off the playing courts, or any other requests, then please do so. Most people are very compliant with this and understand the necessity of these requests which we greatly appreciate. Unfortunately though there have been recent incidents where spectators have not been as cooperative and have instead been challenging, confrontational and abusive towards our court controllers. This is not acceptable behaviour and Volleyball Otago will not tolerate any form of abuse or harassment of our court controllers/volunteers. Whilst we do not want to limit participation in our wonderful sport, we will take steps to ensure our court controllers can perform their role in an environment that does not compromise their safety.
