Year 8 News

Hi team,

What an exciting term we have had with our Year 8 students! From solving the inequalities of the world through algebra to tackling that ever-growing food bill with low-cost, tasty snacks in our PBL unit, they have been hard at work.

Students have also been challenged outside the classroom with rock climbing at Long Beach. For the most part, the weather and wildlife played their part—although some classes did find they had an extra furry or feathered member trying to join their group mid-climb!

As we sign off on winter, a huge thanks to all our parent helpers who made these trips possible, as well as those who gave up their time to help coach a winter sports team.

Next term, our summer sports programmes will be in full swing. This will be the last opportunity for our Year 8s to give something new a go at Tahuna, so get stuck in and give it your all!

In the classroom, students will be navigating the financial world through our Financial Literacy PBL and Trading Day—there may well be a new entrepreneur in the mix. Alongside this eye-opening topic into the realities of how much things cost, students will also be looking ahead to 2027 and their prospective high schools. There will be a high school orientation day for most students on Friday 13 November (Week 5), where your child will experience a half- or full day at their chosen high school for 2027.

Term 4 will fly by, and I encourage our Year 8 cohort to make the absolute most of their final term at Tahuna.
