The double consonant spelling rule (Poem)
By Sophia Essex
The double consonant rule
Can be helpful and very cool.
When you think you are in great trouble
Just remember to always double
The consonant in the word
Before adding “ed” or “ing”
This works for all the consonants,
All of them but two.
Never double the “X”,
And never double the “W”.
The W’s already doubled,
So don’t or you’ll turn into rubble.
The “X”, you see,
Is complex
No, you can’t get out of this
With a game of chess.
I hope you didn’t double the “X”
I also hope everyone checks
To see if they did,
Or I’ll auction you off,
And they’ll have some good bids.
Now you know
The double consonant spelling rule
And I know It’s enough to make you drool,
But, after all, it is a helpful brain tool.
In fact, it’s an utter spelling jewel.
╰☆☆Climate Change☆☆╮
Climate change. Almost everyone hears it regularly from the age of 7. Icebergs melting, animals going extinct, water levels rising and hopelessness for our future. By the year 2030, climate change will be irreversible. That sweet wrapper you dropped on the road? That - even if it seems small is one of the main things which is slowly edging us towards climate change. I feel, as it is within my capability, that I should tell you and update you on climate change.
What’s going on at the moment?
Have you heard of the Willow Project? They’re going to start oil drilling in the Antarctic. This oil drilling platform will be spread across the entire area and soon after it starts, the polar bears will go extinct. This project is starting in 7 years time, and last week everyone was protesting against it - their plan was going to stop - it was going to be alright - and then Joe Biden agreed to the treaty and it is now confirmed. They are going to do it. But 7 years is a long time. In that time we can protest, and sign as many documents as possible to stop this terrible project.
While that is also going on, oil drilling is happening. The orangutans are being forced out of their homes. Even innocent items like Kinder Surprises are using palm oil, which has been drilled from palm forests.
How can we help?
I think that all of you feel my desperate hope for humanity. We can still slow our progress and start the climb back up the cliff we’ve hurled ourselves off. Research into products before you buy them, make sure the meat and dairy products you buy are free range, and finally, reduce the amount of soft plastic you buy. Thank you for reading. I hope this persuaded you to think about climate change and what you can do to stop it.

BLOCK RUN
The school block run is a great way to get exercise. The block run has four badges: bronze, silver, gold and elite. Bronze being the worst and elite being the best. Luka
