Rakiura Gear List

PLEASE ENSURE YOU PACK YOUR BAG SO YOU KNOW WHAT IS IN IT!You will need clothing for outdoor activities. It is important that this clothing can dry easily and is warm.

All items should be packed in a pack which they can carry and fits them properly. 

A smaller backpack will be used for day trips only. The children will take this in the van with them. It will contain their jacket and morning tea & lunch.

Each child is to supply some home baking. Please put this inside an ice cream container for easy packing. 

 Clothes

  • warm trousers  (not jeans)

  • shorts x2 

  • Polypropylene or merino  long sleeved top

  • t shirts

  • warm hat

  • polar fleece or merino or softshell) top

  • long jacket/raincoat (must be waterproof)

  • pyjamas 

  • underwear

  • warm socks

  • shoes/boots for hiking (scuffs inappropriate)

  • footwear for around camp - gumboots or jandals

  • Sunhat

  • Drink bottle x 2

    Other

  • toilet gear

  • Decent sleeping bag

  • pillowcase

  • insect repellent

  • Towel

  • Swimming togs

  • book to read

  • 2 tea towels

  • torch (head torches are great!)

  • any medication including Motion Sickness pills if needed

  • Earplugs (if required)

Optional Extras

  • Fishing tackle and boat rod (if you have one) We have handlines suitable for all.

  • Wetsuit - most years we get out for a swim in Horseshoe Bay!

  • small games for quiet time at camp or pack of cards

  • CELLPHONES - very limited and managed access times. Phones will be collected and held onto by staff
