School accounts will be billed for this trip. The trip must be paid in full ten days prior to leaving (5th September). Allow a little ($25 approx) spending money for treats from the shop and on the way back from Bluff. (We stop for dinner in Invercargill on the way back home)
Accommodation
Accommodation will be at Mamaku Point where we have booked the entire complex. As Mamaku is within a predator fence, no pesky possums, just pesky kiwi.
Gear
Good to start making sure you have access to a quality sleeping bag that is rated for winter use. Waterproof jackets will be checked a week prior to going as we still get students that bring jackets that are not suitable for outdoor use on the island. (the school has some if needed). Other important items are sturdy footwear for hiking and a headlamp. At least two pairs of shoes that will get muddy and wet and are suitable for walking good distances. I have included a gear list on the back of this notice. Most students pack a pair of Gumboots!
