Space Camp Day Two

What a day, so much learning packed into 8 hours!

Today started off with a yummy breakfast at Jucy Snooze before heading off to the International Antarctic Centre for our first day.

Our camp leader Miranda met us and we had an introduction to the centre and learned why Antarctica is an analogue for space exploration.

One of our key learnings was about temperature so we headed into the storm dome to experience a winter blast of -18 degrees.

We met the huskies and discovered why dogs were the first living creatures to go to space…and they’re super cute too!

The 4D cinema was a big hit and we got to learn about forces and gravity while we had some fun racing through different situations.

Then it was time to get hands on and build some rockets and test them.

After lunch we then explored the water filtration system that cleans the penguins pool. This is very similar to the system that is used in space by astronauts.

It’s certainly been an action packed day, and we can’t wait to see what tomorrow will be like.
