Room 11 heads to Camp!

In Week 5, Room 11 went to Waiora Scout Camp for our Year 8 Camp!

"Oh boy, sooo excited" I thought. It was only Week Five of Term 1 at school and we were already going to camp. The bus ride there was very noisy (and I mean very noisy). Things like "This is going to be soooo cool!!" and "I cannot wait to be there!!". When we arrived at Camp Waiora, we unpacked and sorted out our cabin and tent groups. After that it was time for my least favourite part, pitching the tents! I hate tents, especially sleeping in them. Little did I know however, I actually don't mind them. It took awhile for us to pitch it but we got some help which wasn't so bad!"

"I ran into the deep dark bushes on the right side and ran through to the direction of the bucket. I had been in the bushes for a few minutes and getting close to the bucket...then suddenly.. a light shone on my face. "Gotcha!" A parent was hiding the bushes.. I had been caught."

"Glug, Glug, Glug.." I was pouring the blue milk into the bowl with a mix of Cornflakes and Rice Puffs. There were eggs on the table but I chose not to take any. The only eggs I like were the fluffy, vibrant tasting ones that mum makes. I took the first spoonful of the mixed cereal and immediately felt joyfull for the new day."

"On Tuesday night everybody was shattered after the Tramp and went to sleep quite early. Soon enough, Wednesday appeared and we had more activities to do like the Confidence Course, which was my favourite. As soon as the timer person said GO! you got into the mode! People would be whizzing through it! It was so cool once you got to the finish line. You could see desperation on their faces to get another go."

"On Thursday morning on camp, we all woke up early and trudged down from our cabins for a delicious breakfast of toast, baked beans and cereal. All the tables had been placed end to end, giving it a look a bit like long dining tables from a Disney princess movie. After breakfast, we cleaned up our tables and put them away. We began to set up the archery targets. They looked like cheese wheels!"

"It was the morning of Tuesday the 2nd of March and I, Anika was wide awake listening to the tweeting of birds, russells of sleeping bags and snores of fellow class campers. Then, sneaking out og the tent, I sped up the hill to where our cabins were to grab my bagpipes. Back in the tent, me and Lucy were smiling evily to each other. Then before anyone else woke up, I strolled out of the tent, bagpipes under my arm, ready to annoy everyone with the early wake up call. Once everyone was awake and heading towards the hall, then and only then I stopped playing. I followed everyone else into the hall to hear about what we were doing today."
