Principal News

It is with great pleasure that I reflect on the overwhelming success of our recent evening with Rob Cope. The turnout was exceptional, and I want to extend a sincere thank you to the 350 parents, grandparents and teachers who attended. Your commitment to partnering with us in your children's development is truly valued.

Thank you to Sarah Bartley who expertly organised the entire evening. We are also deeply grateful to the Board of Trustees for their investment in our community by ensuring this was a free event, removing any financial barrier to attendance and allowing the maximum number of parents to benefit from the insightful presentation. The feedback we have received has been overwhelmingly positive, we have even heard a few grumbles from students who have talked about the greater restrictions on their phones after this presentation.

Following this success, we are pleased to announce the date for our next critical parent information evening, focusing on our new Mathematics acceleration programme.

This new programme has been specifically developed in response to the changes in the curriculum, which has made the expected level of mathematics learning more rigorous. The core objective of the acceleration programme is to proactively address and close the gap for those students who may now find themselves below the expectation due to the new curriculum becoming harder.

This initiative is set to significantly impact 180 students, and it is the Board’s biggest strategic goal and investment for the year. Sarah Bartley will be leading the team of three teachers including Liam Carroll. I would like to make a special welcome to Nicola Michelle who will be joining the team in term 2.

You will find out if your child is involved in this programme in week 1 of term 2, and the information for the parent evening will be included at this time. We will have two further roll outs of the programme in terms 3 and 4.

I would like to thank the entire team for their hard work this term. As I have mentioned in previous newsletters, like many sectors, education is in a major state of change and a lot is being asked of teachers to keep up.

Finally I hope that you get to spend some time as a family while your child is on their holidays.
