Physics and Carts with Dr Hain
By Noah V and Georgia
Carts:
The carts were little trolleys with wheels and a spring. The carts got pushed together and bounced off each other.
We got to sit on the carts as they crashed into each other.
Pushing someone with your foot is way easier than pushing them with your hands. When on the cart it feels like going over a speed bump in a car, but the bump is in front of you not under you. If you are on the right side, you will roll backwards because the ground is uneven.
I think this is a really fun activity and everyone should have a go at it. As the carts get pushed together the spring at the front of the cart and they both compress and push each other backwards
Forces:
Newton's first law: Things remain still until a force acts upon it.
Gyroscopic force:
A few people sat on a computer chair, then used gyroscopic motion to spin round. With most people it didn't work.
