Year 7 News

What a fantastic year!!

As the school year draws to a close, we reflect with immense pride on the truly fantastic year our Year 7 students have had here at Tahuna Intermediate. These students have not only embraced the academic challenges of intermediate school but have also shown outstanding enthusiasm and dedication across every aspect of school life.

We would like to praise the Year 7s for their hard work and commitment in the classroom this year. You have navigated new subjects, higher expectations, and a different style of learning with maturity and focus. Your efforts are commendable, and the growth we have seen in each of you is a testament to your perseverance. Congratulations on all the hard mahi you have put into the PBL units. We look forward to being part of your arcade games day next week.

This year, we have seen impressive involvement in the wider school sports and cultural activities on offer. Whether you were on the field representing Tahuna, performing on stage in the school end-of-year show, participating in inter-school events, or contributing to one of our many cultural groups, the students represented themselves with pride, determination and dedication. You have learned the value of teamwork, discipline, and commitment—qualities that will serve you well in the years to come. Thank you for making Tahuna proud!

A special and heartfelt thank you must go out to the wonderful parents and caregivers who have supported our Year 7 students and teachers throughout the year.

The success of our extra-curricular and EOTC (Education Outside The Classroom) programs is heavily reliant on your generosity and time. We are incredibly grateful to all the parents who have joined and supported classes on:

  • School Camps

  • Trips to the Otago Aquarium

  • Visits to the University of Otago Physics Department

Your presence made these learning experiences richer, safer, and more memorable for the students. We also sincerely thank you for your time and commitment to the various sports teams you have coached and managed.

To all our amazing Year 7 students, we wish you all the very best for 2026 as you move into Year 8. Keep embracing challenges, continue seeking out new opportunities, and never stop learning!

On behalf of all the Year 7 Teaching Team, Meri Kirihimete me te Tau Hou Hari! (Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!)
