Confidence Course at Camp Berwick 2019.
By Tylah Mason.
We ran down towards the course with Mr Phillips. The rain dripped on my head as we ran to the first obstacle, me and Tayla ran to the tightrope and climbed up the ladder. We started walking across the rope to the Shrek Bridge, someone else was already on the bridge though and told us “You’re going the wrong way!” We didn’t really care though, we just waited till they got off so we could go on it. I stood on the first plank of wood it wobbled dangerously under my feet, I grasped the ropes on the sides as to not fall off. I stepped backwards on to the platform “I’m not going on this!”I said. “Ok then I will!” Said Tayla standing on the first plank. “Ok.” I said and started heading down the tightrope again, as I was walking Mr Phillips took a photo of me, I don’t really like getting photos taken but I smiled anyway.
I waited for Tayla to get down then we headed over to the rope swing I said that I would go first this time, so when everybody else went I got on the swing and pushed off the platform. It was fun, hurdling through the air it felt like I was flying. I reached out to grab the rope wall with my fee. Suddenly I stopped in midair the rope digging into my ankle stung painfully as I unhooked it from the ropes I swung backwards and forwards a few times until I dropped off the swing on to the ropes below me I scrambled back to my feet laughing and I swung the rope back to Tayla and I climbed up onto the platform “ Your turn!” I said. She swung off the platform onto the ropes and held on just fine, I jumped off the platform onto the smooth pebbles below me, I ran after Tayla as she easily climbed up the ropes. I waited for her to get down “ What should we do now?” I asked. “Not sure.”Tayla replied.
I ran towards a large wooden pole and climbed up it “Come on Tayla!” I yelled. “Nah i’m gonna stay down here.” She replied. I shrugged and grabbed the rope above me and started walking across the other rope. It was quite high up, I gripped the rope to stop my hands from slipping off and speed walked to the other side. I looked down and waved at Tayla she waved back “Wait how do I get down?” I yelled “That's why I didn't go up there!” She yelled back. I looked around and saw a fireman pole I stood up and grabbed it and slid down it “I don’t like going down those poles, they burn me.” She said. “Oh.” I replied. We ran off to some platforms and jumped across them. I looked across and saw my friend Evie running across towards us “Hi Evie!” I shouted at her. “Hi!” She shouted back. Me and Tayla ran towards her, “Ok you guys go to the flying fox now.” Said Mr Phillips. “Awww!” We all said “Bye Evie!” I shouted. It was really fun at camp Berwick and I hope to go there next year.
Bewick camp Gut Buster
In the morning of the last day of Berwick camp, we had to do a challenge called the GUT BUSTER. Were you have to lift up a log and carry it around and try to be the first team back to the start. You had 7 people in your team one person was the sub, if someone is tired they swap and then they are the sub. I would say it was a very tiring thing especially since it was before breakfast. Also we had to go into the stinky mud. It was hard and very challenging the gut buster would have been the most challenging thing I have ever done.
Bewick camp night line
So all we were told was to follow the adults to the forest. Then they explained what the Night line was when you are blindfolded and you are put on a rope and you have to find your way around the forest to the finish. The girls group went first while we played a game inside. But now it was our turn. So I put on the blindfold, and I tried to find my way to the finish. The adults would think its funny to try and scare us, by making sounds and other things like that.
As I was walking I could hear voices they got louder and louder as I got closer, I thought to myself that must be at the finish when I took of my blindfold it was all blurry but then my vision came back to me, wow I have just finished the night line. I felt relieved that it was all over, but really happy that I had stood up to the challenge.

Three activities for the ages
By: Gracie Rackham
Camp Berwicks three most dangerous activities, the bucket full of holes, the rope swing and the spider web. We were split into three groups, i was in group three and the first activity we did was the bucket full of holes it was to test our teamwork and commitment, what we had to do was fill the holes and keep as much water in it as possible.
Next we did the rope swing, where we had to swing across on a rope just like Tarzan but had to land on a wooden board, it tested our cooperation with each other.
Then there was the spider web were there was a rope that looked like spiders web, you had to get through the holes without touching the rope some people had to go through the top you had to lift the person up to get them through otherwise you would go through the bottom.
The Great Walls
There are three walls at Camp Berwick, the first one was small not too hard but fun, the next one was a little bigger than the small one i didn’t do it though ‘cause i’m scared of heights but everyone did what they can to help, then there was the tallest one the parents were at the top [and some students who got up first and a little later] helped the people coming up.
It was cool seeing how everyone was helping each other and looking out for one another. At camp I think everyone in our class bonded like it was intended to and also I had an amazing time . A BIG thank you to the parents that helped out they were awesome.
So in conclusion I think everyone had a great time and I would totally recommended it and I would love to do it all again if I had the chance. 😃
