CELEBRATING SUCCESS!!

Integration - During the last few weeks our inquiry topic has been learning about mapping and integrating this into our classroom programme wherever possible. Our maths focus has been position and orientation, ICT we have been coding and Design Tech we have been learning robotics.

Each Friday we put all these learning skills together and programme our robots to learn about co-ordinates. Last week was our first session using the robots.  We set the challenge to get our robot to travel around a one metre square. This challenged involved using practical maths. We had to think about angles, measurements, rotations, perimeter, time and distance. This week we used a larger area, longitude and latitude and had to think about language like: three square north, two squares west, 360 turn etc......... We named our robots, explain to the class our conjectures and then wait with anticipation to see if our robot followed our instructions. As you can see in the photo above Harry and Edward had 100% success!!
