Having Adventures in the Great Outdoors
Outdoor Education provides an opportunity to enhance the wellbeing of individuals, groups and communities by involving them in activities that foster adventure and challenge.
Tahuna pupils participate in a wide range of exciting outdoor education experience during their time at intermediate school.
Year 7 camps provide great opportunities to develop team work, co-operation and confidence, while year 8 camps have a strong outdoor pursuits focus that includes sailing, kayaking, target shooting , mountain biking and tramping.
Tahuna pupils also have the opportunity to develop their outdoor leadership skills and experience in the following activities provided as part of our Year 7 & 8 programmes.
*Mountain biking and bike safety.
*Indoor climbing and rock climbing at Long Beach.
*Winter tramps and geocaching.
*Remuera Intermediate exchange trip to Auckland.
*Ski/Snowboard trip to Coronet peak.
*Aquatics/Swimming skills programme.
* Introduction to Snorkelling & Scuba
*Open water kayaking.
*Rafting
Outdoor education and adventure-based learning sit comfortable alongside our extensive physical activity and sports' programmes and are highly valued by our school community.
Tahuna has built up amazing resources in this area and also enjoy skilled parent involvement in many of our activities.
A number of these activities do come with a cost component and it is important that all activities are paid for before the event. Payments for camp (Year 7 $120) & (Year 8 $200) can be paid at the office or through online accounts. You can also contact the office if you would like to arrange to pay by instalments.
