Principal News

As much as we focus on successfully completing this year, we also start to make plans for 2026.

We would like to congratulate Abby Harris who will be joining us in 2026 and will be teaching in Year 8. Abby impressed as a University of Otago College of Education student this year, and we are looking forward to welcoming her to Tahuna as a beginning teacher.

We say farewell and thank you to Destiny Carvell and Morgann Price, who are taking up roles at Carisbrook School and DNI, respectively.

The specialist block upgrade is underway and will be ready for the start of term two. The Board have also invested in the adventure playground with significant improvements and additions to be completed by the beginning of term 1, 2026

As we close out the school year, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to everyone who makes Tahuna a success. A sincere thank you goes to our dedicated teachers and support staff for their tireless effort and commitment to our students.

We are also incredibly appreciative of our parents for their ongoing support of the school and their child's learning journey. Thank you to the Board of Trustees for their invaluable leadership and governance throughout the year.

We bid a fond farewell to our departing Year 8 students and wish them the very best as they move on to their next chapter. Finally, to our current Year 7s, enjoy a well-deserved break and a great holiday; we look forward to welcoming you back to Tahuna in 2026.

This is our last formal newsletter for the year, and a shorter update newsletter will come out next Friday.
