Anzac Day 2025

As they have done for many years, a number of Tahuna students were up bright and early on Anzac Day to represent our school at the Dawn Service and, a little later on, at the Andersons Bay Posy Laying Ceremony.

It was very special to be able to join a group of around fifteen Tahuna students who were up well before sunrise to attend this year's Dawn Service. It was great to see that there were quite a few more Tahuna students who were also there as representatives of other groups.

This year marks the 110th anniversary of the Gallipoli campaign. As ever, it was a moving service which reminded us all of the huge sacrifices that others have made for us. Towards the end of the service, Niamh Porter and Noema Sirguey laid a wreath on behalf of Tahuna.

A little later in the morning, a smaller group attended the Andersons Bay Posy Laying Ceremony. Here, Kahurangi Makiha and Lorna Watts read the Ode in te reo māori and english respectively before Noema laid a wreath on behalf of Tahuna.

Many thanks to all those who represented Tahuna at these two services and to the Tahuna School Council for funding the wreaths.
