Tahuna students train with former All White
Cole Gibbons and Rory Hibbert give us a run down on what it was like training with Ben Sigmund.
On Friday the 13th of May, together with some fellow Tahuna students who attend the Football South Federation Talent Centre (FTC) were invited by Ben Sigmund (the ex All White and Wellington Phoenix player) to a football coaching session across the road at Tahuna Park.
When we first got there we waited for Ben to arrive in the club rooms. When he did we all went dead silent, it was hilarious. We shook hands with him and headed outside.
When we got outside a ODT photographer took our photo with Ben for the newspaper. We then did the Fifa 11 + ( which is a warm up that we do) to start our session.
We took part in several drills and activities involving football skills and tricks, and then we got out the ball and did some passing. After the passing we got into two teams and started a big game and we were both on separate teams. When the game had finished we went over to the stand where Ben was selling his book “FULLY COMMITTED” and we all managed to get his autograph and some photos. “It was a good experience meeting him and doing the session as well ”Rory said. We really enjoyed the experience to meet Ben and I bet all the FTC boys would agree” Cole said.
