Mathematics Acceleration Programme

This year, Tahuna has invested in a mathematics acceleration programme for Year 7 and 8 students in response to shifting requirements within the New Zealand Curriculum over recent years. This programme is unique to Tahuna and offers students an eight-week opportunity to work with specialist teachers.

Each Year 7 class will participate in the programme over the course of the year, with 12 students selected from each class. Students will receive four hours of direct teaching per week for the duration of the programme. The programme includes engaging, hands-on activities that apply mathematical strategies to everyday contexts, such as calculating totals while shopping.
