Tahuna House Leaders' Outing 2026
Our 2026 House Leaders recently enjoyed a great opportunity to get to know each other better.
Near the start of the new school year, we took our 2026 House Leaders on an outing to Okia Reserve and Victory Beach. This was to help them get to know each other better and to give them some opportunities to bond not just with the Leaders from their own Houses but as a whole group as well.
The day included lots of walking, some exploration of the pyramids, some cooperative games and plenty time to get to know each other better.
Here are some extracts from the reflections which some of our House Leaders wrote in the days following the outing:
Annabelle: On the 25th of February all House Leaders went on a tramp/day out and I had so much fun during it. We started off with a little hike and after a lot of walking we sat down on the beach and played around, we then did some challenges and house competitions that I hope everyone enjoyed. I'm so grateful we've been given this opportunity to spend the day with all our amazing leaders.
Declan: Our House Leaders day out was so fun. It included going to the pyramids, (which we actually got to walk up!!!!!) and then following down to the beach. We got to just chill, relax and play with our friends and I don't know about anyone else, but for me that was where most of the ‘Bonding’ happened. I got to know more people or I got to know some people better. We played touch, did some puzzles Mr. Owen set for us to do, and that was the best trip I have ever been on. DID WE STOP THERE? The answer is no, we continued our journey on to Harrington Point. There we played a football mini game, and we played some basketball on the astounding court. It turned out to be the most beautiful day, and to top it all off, the best trip I have ever done in my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hazel: The 2026 tramp was a fun day outdoors. It was a great way for the House Leaders to get to know each other and have some fun. We did lots of games and some of them were a way to earn house points. I loved that. Overall it was a great day and I think all future House Leaders will enjoy it also.
Heath: Recently, all the House Leaders from Tahuna went on a fun tramp. We all had so much fun doing all the stuff that we did, on the way there we were in two vans and that was very cool getting to see all the cool landscape and geography. When we were there we walked up this cool mountain, “we called it the pyramids" It was such a nice view from the top and underneath it there was a really cool cave that we had a blast in. That is, we were looking at all the deep crevices and how far down they went. After all that was done we hopped back in the vans and went to a park where we had lunch and played a cool football game for house points.
Isabel: Sunscreen was applied and we held on to our hats as the House Leaders team stepped onto the windy beach for a day of fun and team bonding. We started off at the pyramids walk at Victory Beach which had a spectacular view. We moved onto the beach and organised ourselves some games, which were followed by some team bonding exercises. After spotting some wildlife (sea lions, fur seals, and birds) we moved onto the Harrington Point playground and earned ourselves some house points. We hopped back into the van and headed home. This was a fun opportunity to get to know each other and we all had a great time. Thank you to Mr. Owen and Mr. Scoles for making this possible.
Jonas: The House Leader day out was a great opportunity to connect with each other and get to meet each other outside of school. I enjoyed climbing and walking through the tracks around the pyramids and the time we spent on the beach. We saw native seals, solved puzzles with our House and even played games amongst ourselves. I also enjoyed our time at the park where we played basketball, football and talked. I think it was very well structured and thought out. It was a great idea and it was a great experience to connect and get to know each other.
Josh: Windy, Adventurous, Fun. The Leaders' day out was really fun, we went exploring into caves and climbed a basalt pyramid. It was very windy that day but still hot. After our walk to the pyramids we went to a playground and played some games. Overall it was a great day out getting to know the other House Leaders.
Laurie: We went out on a trip to Victory Beach where we went up a pyramid at the beach which was fun. The day was an awesome opportunity to get to know each other better. We had a great time doing activities and hanging out with each other.
Lucy: I loved the tramp so much. It was a lot of fun walking up the pyramids and playing at the beach with all the other House Leaders. It was an awesome opportunity to get to know all the other House Leaders. My favourite part was definitely playing at the beach when we all organised a fun game and all 16 of us played. It was also great fun singing in the van on the way.
Theo: Late February and the House Leaders were going on a big trip to climb the pyramids. We went to the beach and saw sea lions and seals, we played near the ocean and on the rest of the beach doing rugby. As the day came to an end we went to one last stop.. A park that had a basketball court, a huge playground and a nice breeze from the beach wind. Finally, our trip came to an end and we returned back to school.
Tae: On the day out, I thought it was such a fun experience and being able to go to the beach, pyramids for the day was so cool and so fun to see and do. My favourite part was definitely going inside the pyramids or playing at the beach with everyone. We found so much to do and did such fun challenges.
