Tahuna 1st XI in action against Oamaru Intermediate School 1st XI

An action packed game, played in great spirit!

We took a strong team up to Oamaru to challenge them and see how we measured up. After our stretches, warm-up and drills we heard the latest results of netball, basketball and hockey games, the wins were split 3-3 between our two schools. That meant it was up to both our football and rugby teams to win both games to win the overall exchange.

The first half was hectic with chances at both ends of the field. Oamaru defended well and made the most of their attacking chances in our quarter. Thanks to some great team work and individual skill we were able to get to half-time 4-2 up.

The second half saw Tahuna control the game really well, by keeping possession in the Oamaru half for large chunks of time. Some excellent linking passes, changes of play, goalkeeping and vision saw us keep a clean sheet for the second half, while finding the back of the net another 4 times for a final score of 8-2.

A great game where our team represented Tahuna so proudly while enjoying the opportunity to mix it with footballers from a different town. Go Team Tahuna!
