REMINDERS

Kia ora parents and caregivers,

This is just a last reminder of a few things to remember for camp.

GEAR

PLEASE ensure that children help pack their own packs, this is very important. You are not helping them by doing it for them - do it with them and help them to become more independent and responsible. One year a student slept without his sleeping bag his Mum had packed for him!

All students need to bring waterproof jackets and sleeping bags to school to get checked. They will need to show these to Mr Scoles at our meeting this Wednesday.

Each child can only bring 2 bags. Their daypack is their school bag (or equivalent) and must contain their waterproof jacket, hat, gloves and warm layer (if they are not wearing one to school). It must also have their water bottle and afternoon tea. Everything else must go in their big pack- this includes their sleeping bags!

Please do not send along lunchboxes, this just takes up extra room in their bags.

It is very hard to imagine now with this amazing weather but there will probably be a time in camp when it will be cold and wet. Children must take enough warm clothes - it is far better to have too many than not enough. At night it is cold sleeping in a tent- children must be prepared!

All terrain footwear is essential. We will get wet and muddy. GUMBOOTS ARE GOLD! One pair of shoes will need to stay dry and clean the whole time.

Please be assured there is plenty of food on camp and children will not go hungry. If you haven’t indicated special dietary requirements already please do so ASAP.

PLEASE NAME ALL GEAR CLEARLY- we cannot reiterate this enough!

SUNDAY AND MONDAY:

Mr Lousley will be at school from 3 - 3.30pm on Sunday to pack the trailer and vans. Gear must either be brought along then or on Friday before 3.15pm. We don’t have time on Monday morning to pack gear as we have a very strict timetable to get to Bluff for the morning ferry crossing.

All children must be at school NO LATER THAN 5am. We cannot wait around for latecomers. The ferry will not wait.

Medication must go to Miss Waugh (apart from inhalers - students can self manage these)

Baking must be handed in on Sunday please do not pack it at the bottom of their big pack! If you can please pack in an icecream container or similar we can recycle on the Island

If children have travel sickness medication they need to take this before leaving.

We will be returning to school by 8:30pm on Friday.
