Petanque a hit at French/Japanese elective
Two Fridays ago students in the French/Japanese elective made their much-anticipated trip to the ............ Petanque Club.
Members of the club very kindly worked with small groups of Tahuna students as they got a taste of a very popular French pastime.
There were just a few rules to learn and then we were straight into playing. It was lots of fun as students tried to land their "boules" as close as possible to the target on the unpredictable gravel surface (the "piste").
This was just one of a range of experiences offered during this elective with its focus on both language and culture. Last Friday we spent our final session enjoying a range of French and Japanese foods. Students had the chance to try baguette with brie and camembert, chocolate eclairs, croissants, Senbae crackers, wasabi peas and much more.
