Room 1 2040 Projects.

This year instead of the Science Fair all students at Tahuna Int. made a project based around what Dunedin might look like in the year 2040.

The whole idea was to get participating schools and their students create projects and models, Physical or Digital, about what they think the council  should do to Dunedin to make the city more vibrant and sustainable by 2040. There were six topics for students to choose from, which were, as follows: Urbanisation, Rising Sea Levels, Predator Free Dunedin, Vibrant City Centre, Sustainable Transport and Green Infrastructure. The Projects That Nic and I have both made it into the exhibition, with our separate projects both being on different topics. Nic did his by himself on Sustainable Transport, and I did mine in a group of three with Conor and Mohammed, on Green Infrastructure.

My Group's project was based in the area of the Wall Street Mall, with a rotating model showing how the area could be changed, setting a template for other areas as well. Along with that, we had an Information board showing the details of our project, and how the idea could be carried out.

Nic's project was a plan for refurbishment of the train system and a new train station based on Sustainable Transport and had electric trains powered by renewable energy gathered by solar panels.
