Year 7
Welcome to term two.
The Year 7's have been busy over the past two weeks immersing themselves in science as they work through a variety of experiments. Our first week was full of trial and error as classes made hokey pokey, carbon snakes, and fizz rockets. There were a few failed attempts but heaps of learning about the scientific process and how to observe using their senses. The students were buzzing about their attempts at making hokey pokey at home. We look forward to seeing the experiment they will share with the class.
Week two saw a visit from Dr Dave Warren, who presented a science show that focused on the states of matter. He amazed the students as he shrunk a balloon in liquid nitrogen, only to have it reexpand when it hit the warmer air.
Winter sports are starting to gain momentum well done to all the students who have joined our hockey, netball, and basketball teams. Interschool rugby and football trials have also begun this week.
As we look at the term ahead the Year 7's will work on chemistry for much of the term before switching to an Olympic study.
