Tahuna Cricket Boys off to Nationals

Tahuna Boys managed to finally break the hoodoo and progress through to the Nationals to be held later in the year after a big victory in the final against Balamacewen last week.

The final was played in front of friends and family on Dunedin's test cricket venue, the University Oval. All stops were pulled out by Otago Cricket with not only the chance to play on the University Oval but also live scoring online, the electronic scoreboard in action, Umpires, Scorers and use of the Otago Volts changing room. A big thank you to Will Deerness at Otago Cricket for making this happen.

The Tahuna boys responded well to the VIP treatment restricting Balmacewen to only 60/7 off 20 overs. Joe Ingram was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets for 3 runs off his 3 overs. This also earned him MVP for the final. Other useful bowling contributions came from Louis Clydesdale 1/6 off 4 overs and Lochie Cowan 1/3 off 2 overs and Gus Holt 1/10 off 4 overs.

In reply Tahuna was in a bit of trouble at 5 for 2 but cool heads from the captain, Jacob Murray with 22 not out and Jackson Clearwater with 25 not out saw Tahuna through to victory with 7 wickets to spare.

It was a great way to finish the campaign and the boys are looking forward to going away in November.
