Year 7 News

Toitū, Waihola, Tūhura- the Year 7's are getting out and about.

The Year 7 children are enjoying many trips out and about with visits to Toitū, as part of their Conflict Unit. School camp to Waihola, and coming up later in May, a trip to Tūhura as part of the Matariki Unit.

The Year 7's have been studying Conflict this term and looking at the historical perspectives and changes to New Zealand through three main conflicts, these are WW1, Women's Suffrage and the Springbok Tour 1981. The students have been busy generating some great questions and are moving forward to making a memorial item. This could be an art piece, sculpture, symbol or model of a monument.

Many classes have been out to the school camp and are thoroughly enjoying the change of venue for our Year 7's. Some highlights have been the zipline, archery tag, geo-caching and using the camp cookers. Thank you to all the parents who have supported these camps. We appreciate the time and commitment you made to make these camps successful.

Our final trip for this term will be towards the end of May; each class will head down to Tūhura to work with the education team and explore the night sky through the planetarium. This looks to be a great ignitor for our Matariki evening. The Year 7's will be hosting the Musselburgh Junior school on the 1st of July to experience the studnets hands on projects for Matariki.
