Korowai mihi art work.

Written by Asha Neilson and Gracie Allan.

Hi everyone,

This term in Room 18, we have been writing and practicing our mihi. We have searched for information about our family, and where we came from. In Te Ao Māori this is called Whakapapa. When we added all the information together, we created an art piece telling our stories. We first wrote our mihi on one side of a paper. We then created a korowai design on the other side then folded it into a shape of a korowai. We then pasted a picture of our selves at the top to give the appearance of us wearing the korowai. This represents the fact that we are leaders and high achievers while developing a strong sense of identity.

Please enjoy these pictures of the process.

Asha and Gracie.
