2019 Otago Lit Quiz Heat

On Monday 11th of March Miss Brawley took 9 students to the Otago Lit Quiz heat at DNI.

The event had ten different categories with ten questions each in them, such as Settings, Teachers and Villains which were based on popular children and young adult books. In our Tahuna 1 team was Heather Lawrence, Ted Menzies, Quinn Bailey and Adam Salisbury. In Tahuna 2 we had Taylor McLean, Hannah Hogan, William Ashton and Ashton Fraser. Dimitri Latton was our first reserve.

This was a very exciting day for our Tahuna teams with our Tahuna 2 team placing 3rd place in Otago and our Tahuna 1 team placing 5th and also winning the category ‘teeth.’ It came down to a very intense sudden death round for Tahuna 2 to take 3rd or 4th. Their question was “which recent book was based around the son in family” which Hannah Hogan answered correctly (Wonder) to earn her team 3rd place.

After many weeks of practises we really enjoyed ourselves and were very happy to both take home a top 5 placing and also a book voucher each. A special thank you to Linda Bailey and Janice Gibson for providing our transport there and back.
