Year 8s Shifting the Spotlight to Matariki

The Year 8 classes are gearing up to illuminate the school for our upcoming Matariki evening on July 1st!

This term, our Year 8 students have been deeply immersed in the PBL design process, channeling their creativity and technical skills into designing and constructing stunning Matariki Pou. Each piece is being crafted to reflect the stories, values, and stars of Matariki, bringing cultural narratives to life through art and light.

Through a rigorous process of drafting, critiquing, and refining their prototypes, the students are mastering the balance between structural design and artistic storytelling. They are working hard to ensure their light installations will create a magical, immersive experience for everyone who walks through.

Be sure to check out some of the incredible behind-the-scenes design work and prototyping happening in the classrooms as the final structures come together.

The Year 8 cohort cannot wait to light up the school hall and share this spectacular showcase with the wider community at our Matariki evening on July 1st. We look forward to seeing you there!

A huge thanks to our Year 8 cohort for all their hard work, creativity, and dedication during a highly successful term. You've done an amazing job!
