EPRO 8 Grand Final Champions

Congratulations to the "Calculators'

On the 21st of April, the Tahuna Onesies and the Calculators travelled to DNI to compete in the EPRO8 semifinal competition. The Calculators came 1st, and the Tahuna Onesies came 3rd. Both teams secured a spot in the Grand Final.

This engineering challenge is intense, and the teams have two and a half hours to build as many challenges as they can. The Calculators chose to make a Mario Kart that was able to throw out bananas but also skid when it detected a banana in front of it. The students did exceptionally well and won the semifinal.

The Tahuna Onesies selected the Maze to build, which involved creating a moving structure with fans that could be controlled to adjust the height of the balloon and navigated through hula hoops and pool noodle obstacles, and came 3rd.

On the 23rd, both teams competed in the Grand Final, which had a nautical theme. The Tahuna Onesies chose to make the Pirate Ship, and the Calculators chose to do the Fishing Rod; both teams worked tirelessly on their builds and hit some stumbling blocks along the way. It was great to see the teamwork and problem-solving as they tried to work out a solution to the challenges.

This was an incredibly tight and tough competition with the Calculators, DNI and the Balmacewan Girls team vying for first place. Congratulations to the Calculators who came first.

Well done to the Tahuna Onesies on their build. The pirate ship was hard.
