Tahuna Ski Trip 2019
42 Tahuna students spent the first weekend of term at Coronet Peak. By Becca & Lukas Rm 17
Early this term we went on the 2019 Tahuna Annual ski trip it was a lot of fun. After lunch we took the long bus ride to Queenstown and bought dinner at a food court, that was really good.
When we arrived at Coronet Peak we assembled at the Otago and Southland lodges to get ready for bed. After our arrival we were sorted into bunk rooms in which we would sleep in for the next two nights. On The other hand the sleeping arrangements were interesting because there was one really long bed for everyone to squeeze into and there was another one on top like a bunk bed. After meeting our cabin groups and arguing over who got the top bunk we settled into bed. After a lot of fun and flying pillows everybody finally dozed off. When we awoke the next morning everybody was nervous and excited about going to skiing and snowboarding as a lot of people had never been before.
The excitement grew as we all got our bibs and climbed up the mountain.
We had to wait in the hot and tiring ski hire for so long because everyone of the 42 children and some adults had to get their stuff . Once we got organised into our groups we were very excited.
Next we went to our lessons for two hours in which we learnt to ski or snowboard and if you already knew how you went to them to learn even more. At the end of our lessons we went to check in with the teachers at the cafe . After that went to Ski or snowboard with our partners. We had fun trying some new slopes and everyone was super hungry for lunch we went and bought some food from the Ski Cafe at the base of the ski field and also had a great selection of home baking and fruit to choose from.
After the nutritious and delicious food break we were back to hit the slopes. Our favourite part of the 2019 ski trip was making new friends and the views were amazing. We highly recommend this trip to anyone of any ability as its an incredible opportunity and a really fun trip to be a part of. If your interested you should definitely apply next year.
