Rounding off another great season of Tahuna hockey

Last Friday, we held our annual hockey prizegiving to celebrate the efforts of the many adults and players who helped make this another great season of Tahuna hockey.

Another season of Tahuna hockey has come and gone. Last Friday, we took the time to celebrate the achievements of our players, the progress they all made this year and the adults who supported them throughout the season.

Here are some key points:

  • in Term 3, it was great to see the return of 11-a-side hockey - our players adapted really well to this new challenge

  • it was fantastic to have use of our new covered turf and, for the first time ever, to have our very own set of hockey goals

  • we're very proud to be easily the biggest school in the Otago Hockey Intermediate competition with 60 players

  • we've been very lucky to be supported by an excellent team of very experienced coaches

  • a huge thanks to our five goalkeepers who all took on this new challenge with commitment and determination

  • massive thanks also to James Bishop for spending five lunchtimes running expert coaching sessions for our goalkeepers

  • thanks also to James Nicolson, former Tahuna student and Junior Black Stick, for running a skills session for two of our 11-a-side teams

  • we hope to see our Year 7 players back with us next year

  • good luck to our Year 8 players as they move into their high school years

Thanks to all families and caregivers for their support throughout the 2025 season.
