Year 8 News

So far this term, our Year 8 students have been engaged in a variety of science experiments for our PBL unit. Hokey Pokey, Fizz Rockets, and Carbon Snakes are just a few of the chemistry lessons that students have participated in. Soon, students will be researching their own science experiments with the goal of having them added to a Tahuna Chemistry Book!

We have also started our Year 8 swimming program at Moana Pool. Here is a timetable of which classes are going and when. Next week we have a break as Rooms 9 and 15 are off to camp.

Tuesday’s weeks 5, 6, and 7

- Team 5 - Rooms 12, 13, 14, and 22 from 9:30 am until 12:30 pm

- Team 4 - Rooms 15, 16, and 21 from 11:00 am until 1:30 pm

Thursday’s weeks 5, 6, and 7

- Team 6 - Rooms 9, 10, and 11 from 11:00 am until 1:30 pm

It would be awesome to have as many students as possible participate, as we have planned some fun activities such as IRB (Inflatable Raft Boat) skills, a raft-building challenge, and Surf Life Saving skills. In the last week, we will have the Hydro-slide running for all students as part of the rotations.

Just two classes left to go to camp in week 4: Rooms 9 and 15. We hope they have a fun-filled, action-packed week and that the weather is kind to them.

Winter sports are well underway, and it is great to see so many Tahuna students participating each week!
