Catapults, physics and flight

Building and testing catapults and airplanes is a great way to learn about design and experiments.

Year 8 students in design tech have been building on last year's downhill racer project by building, testing and modifying catapults and airplanes. The big ideas in the unit include measurement of distance and angles, fair testing, and the physics of flight. The students enjoy working together in teams and competing with one another to fire their missiles the furthest.
