Being a Good Friend
A piece of writing by a past Tahuna student that is a good reminder about friendship. This is especially relevant for our new students that are making new friends.
Being a good friend to others is important, for the simple fact that, if you can't be friends or act friendly to others, then the possibility is that a lonely life's in store for you.
To be emotionally close to someone is an amazing feeling, it brings happy thoughts to your mind when you think of them, as well as happy memories you've shared. If you have no one to share laughs and memories with then life must be very grey.
Sometimes it's not enough to just be friends, just being a friend could only be exchanges of shallow conversation and comments to each other, without being close at all. Being a good friend requires effort that will be repaid with the happiness of tomorrow.
Good friends always stick up for each other. If someone was being mean to you, the majority of the time a good friend would either endure it with you, or stick up for you. During troubled times in your life it is important to have someone there to cheer you up and take your mind off the bad things.
The importance of being a good friend is huge, but has great rewards of repaid friendship and loyalty.
