“Mana Tama Toru” & “Mana Toroa” – (Tahuna's Hip Hop Crews).

Tahuna Intermediate is proud to introduce our two incredible hip hop crews, Mana Tama Toru (Boys Crew) and Mana Toroa (Girls Crew). These talented students have kicked off their rehearsal season, crafting high-energy routines in preparation for performances throughout the community. This week they performed for the very first time at the 'Tahuna Evening of the Arts'. They have only been rehearsing together for 5 weeks - such a short time - their coach Mrs Kutia is so proud of them!

Their ultimate goal? To represent our kura at the regional and national NZCAF Hip Hop competitions later this year!

Each week, the crews dedicate 40 minutes of their lunch break to refining their choreography and building their skills. We’re also lucky to have support from Mrs Kutia’s good friend, the renowned street artist and bboy Koryu, who has been working closely with Mana Tama Toru to sharpen their bboy techniques.

Keep an eye out—these crews are bringing the mana and the moves. Watch this space!
